DragonCon 2009

I just realized that I never put my pictures from last year's DragonCon up on my website, so I'll just put them here instead. Here's the first batch.

The line to pick up badges is always miles long. These pictures were taken on Thursday afternoon, before the con even started.

More old wallpapers...

This time around I have some old Harry Potter walls, and a few from some sci-fi TV shows. These are a tiny bit less dated than the last batch. But not much :)

Old stuff... actor wallpapers

I'm going to start gradually moving things from my old website to this blog. Now, when I say "old"... well, here's an example. I made these desktop wallpapers quite a few years ago, and it shows :) This was back when the standard desktop resolution was 800x600. But I worked hard on them, darnit, so here they are.

Daniel Craig - Casino Royale

David Wenham - Lord of the Rings

Christian Bale - Equilibrium

Sean Bean - The Island

Troy

Timothy Hutton - Taps

Hugh Jackman - X-Men

Hugh Jackman - Kate and Leopold

Jason Isaacs - Peter Pan

Brendan Fraser - The Mummy Returns

Richard Roxburgh - Van Helsing

I love color!

I'm in the throes of yet another redecorating frenzy. This time I was inspired by a second-hand chair I stumbled on in a thrift store. It looks like it was made just for my house. I really went nuts with the yellow and orange, and played up the already significant whimsical aspect of my decor. Yes, I know it's kitschy – that’s by design. I’m kind of a kitschy person :)

I made this mushroom-style footstool from a cheap plastic bucket and a pre-cut round piece of wood from the home improvement store.

One day I was helping my mom trim her crepe myrtle tree, and I thought there had to be something I could do with the cool, organic looking branches. So I stuck one in a pot and covered it with cheap craft store stuff :)

This chandelier started out as a plain white thrift store chandelier. It's the height of kitsch, but I love it.

Warm weather for a change!

I stayed at my dad's house in Ft. Pierce when I went to the ren fest. The weather was beautiful, and it was so nice to see the sun for a change. My dog had fun running around behind my dad's house.

The Florida Renaissance Festival

I went to a renaissance festival in Deerfield Beach, Florida last weekend. I was impressed; it was quite a bit bigger than the one here in Gainesville. I got to hang out with my friend Arlene and her daughter Sara.

The "cast of characters" at the festival did a cute little song and dance when the gates first opened. That was a nice touch.

What pretty fairies! And look at the racks of clothes behind them. I LOVE buying clothes at ren fests.

This cute little rat terrier's mom dressed her up as a fairy. I have to do that for my dog :)

The Washing Well Wenches - they were hysterical!

There were quite a few...um... "impressive" outfits at the festival :)

Hoggetowne Weekend 1

I didn't take many pictures, because it was cold and I didn't want to take my hands out of my pockets! I'm going again this weekend, though.
